Coursework Ideas

For my coursework I want to do a moving image footage video because I enjoy doing something more productive with acting involved. I will probably be working with Dan Pearce as we enjoyed and did well during the preliminary task. I really enjoyed the preliminary task.

My Evaluation

I decided to do my preliminary task on a magazine based on Chew Valley School called "The Valley". My Magazine uses forms and conventions of real media products as it uses a stylish font for the title of my magazine which is quite fun and it is very eye catching, I also used 3 different font colours to make the magazine attractive so that people will notice it easily, I made my magazines main picture of a student learning from a teacher fill up the whole of the front cover. I made the price of "Free" stand out with it being written in red font with a green background to again make it attractive and eye catching and finally I made the front cover have a storyline accross the picture to make the reader look up and take notice of it and hopefully read it.
My media product represents Chew Valley School to be a good place to be with success in every department in learning with a student learning from a teacher whilst also enjoying learning with a smile on his face.
The school itself or the local council (Bath And North East Somerset) would be most likely to distribute my media product because they are the ones most interested in students joining Chew Valley School, Chew Valley School itself would also like parents and students that actually attend the school to use the magazine as they want everyone to be up to date with all of the news around the school whilst also having parents recommending the school to parents and children who are interseting in joining the school.
The audience for my media production are parents and students of Chew Valley School and also potential students and parents of the future.
I attracted/addressed my audience by using a photo of a student of the school looking interested whilst learning from a teacher and I also used many different colours within fonts and backgrounds. I used a big cover story on the front over the picture which is related to it as it says "Academic Improvement Again For Chew!".
I have learnt how to cut out backgrounds from pictures and also how to find and use different fonts within my fornt cover. I have learnt that using many colours within fonts and backgrounds are one of the main ways to attract your audience within magazines.
I have learnt a lot from the progression to the full product as I started from a basic white magazine to using different things like pictures backgrounds, stylish fonts, different coloured fonts and a tagline that helps for viewers to remember my magazine.

Coursework ideas

I am planning on making my coursework as a print image as I will enjoy designing a magazine rather than making a short film.

I read music magazines like NME and I like the layout of their frontcovers as it shows you what to expect in the magazine all on the front cover.
I would like to use an image for the title of my magazine to be real catchy, so that people will remember it. NME is an example as the majority of people that see it will recognise and know what it is.

Ferdinand De Saussure

Ferdinand De Sausser was a Swiss linguistic who lived from 1857 - 1913. He had a foundation that he shared that made significant developments in linguistics throughout the 20th century. He made a piece of work called "Course in General Linguistics, and this was to show that language may be analyzed as a formal system of different elements apart from many dialects of real production and comprehension.

Commentry on English Literature Festival work

Me and Dan Pearce did a logo, banner and poster to promote the Chew Valley School Literature festival. Our Logo was a good design that was easy to see what it was as it was a book with "Chew Valley Literature Festival" underneath, so that people would know straight away what it is. Our Poster was made in a fun way of promoting reading as we used two year 13 students on the front laughing about something they have witnessed whilst reading a book. We had information about the festival itself, including the time and date of the event.

Our Banner was brightly coloured to attract students and anyone interested in the event, with it also using our logo which people again would see and know right away what it is. It also again like the others used the date and time of the event, which provides viewers with all the information relevant to the festival available.

With the logo being often used throughout our campaign, this is what would make the Literature festival successful. The date and time are also relevant to the viewers and I feel that this is one of the most important factors to make the campaign a success.

Funny People

I went to the cinema last weekend and saw the film called "Funny people" which contains Adam Sandler in. It was a great film about a comedian who is told that he has a rare disease that is likely to kill him and he wants to live his life with the limited time that he thinks he has. In the end he finds out that the treatment for the disease has successfully worked.

About Myself

My name is Louis Britton and I have chosen to study Media Studies A level because I have a general interest in the media, ranging from reading newspapers to watching tv. I would like to use Media Studies to become a Sports Journalist in the future. I enjoy reading the newspaper of "The Sun", this is mainly due to the great sport section that they offer.
